The All-Sports Club in Dunwich is the local hub for lots of Island residents, and especially those involved with the Straddie Sharks Football Club. The Club, tucked into the corner of the Ron Stark Oval is a great asset to the Island and each year has a sign-on for all the junior grades of football. The licensed clubhouse has a gym and squash courts and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. The meals include lunchtime burgers and nighttime pizzas, as well as bistro style meals.

The team at Whales Way Restaurant moved to North Straddie, after 5 ½ very successful years operating the Barrel Room, located in the heart of Queensland’s premier wine district on the Granite Belt. During their time at the Barrel Room, they were awarded ‘Best Restaurant in a Winery in Queensland’ for three consecutive years!
Whilst enjoying seeing their former business grow, the addition of a new family member prompted the team to start to look for a slight slow-down in lifestyle: a sea change if you will! And so the search began for the next stand-out destination restaurant with a more concentrated trading period to allow a more enjoyable work life balance.
The menu at Whales Way Restaurant features standout seafood selected daily from local suppliers, as well as local island honey. To ensure the continuation of the high quality they are known for, Chef utilises the daily ferry operations to ensure the best local and imported seasonal produce is available in this “fresh produce driven” Modern Australian menu for both the A la Carte and Sand Bar offerings.
